my main pond vortex gets dumped twice a day am and pm daily. my filter

vortexes get dumped once a day in am. irregardless of the season...this is for my inside pond.

My outside uses the same filter set up ( I just throw a valve to connect/disconnect) but the outside in addition has a bead filter cause theirs more to trap outside than inside and that gets dumped daily.,

yes I tend to be fanatical about cleanliness but there's a reason and it has to do with the health of the koi. besides i'm so "scotch' that if i paid all this money for trapping stuff I sure ain't gonna hang on to it longer than a day...

Wink How often do you flush your toilet

With that said I flush my settlement/vortex chamber every other day. The other chambers once to twice per week depending on the feed rates.

This thread has provided some good sound info for ALL hobbyists, through a lot of trial and error and years of doing it - bottom line comes out to me to be - FLUSH THE TOILET!! Remember in the drought days the saying used to be " If it's yellow, let it mellow, if it's brown, flush it down"! Well follow that rule and you've got it made!!
