Ya! I hope our friend Chong aka ccm took you around to his home pond. You are priviledge cos 'us' has not seen his home pond yet! LOL! What else did you see? His beautiful dog and daughters? He!He!He!

Would love to come back for that, however the wife and I are expecting a new baby in May so I need to save the rest of my vacation for that. Make sure to take lots of pics for those of us who wont be able to make it, I really want to see how the koi have grown after a few months in the mud ponds. After visiting Malaysia I think a new category should be started because jumbo tosai doesn't do justice, how about "Ultra Monster Tosai" hahaha!

Chong showed me a great time, his pond / koi are very nice, I saw the dog but missed the daughters (something to look forward to on my next visit, lol). We also saw Chris (chagoi) pond, and the Doc's balinese inspired pond. The bad news is my camera was out of battery, so I didn't get any pics :-(

So guys, keep an eye on Sentul Park Koi Centre...

By the way, Kingkong, I don't understand your sentence..."Now I here one of the koi is being delivered to Florida for growing Tewa! That brings it close to home."

Do you mean you receive an auction koi from this show? Please clarify.

Cheers

Yes Roger, Tewa mentioned with aid of a friend, he managed to get a showa from auction and have it sent to Luke's pond. Is that Luke Frisbee in Florida which is also my home State? Now that I read back there is another Luke, A Luke Shori is what I assumed is my mistake.
Thanks for the Park information. The YTL group must be well liked by the public maintaining such nice things.

Kingkong

He is talking about Luke Shori who is in charge of everything koi at Sentul Park Koi Centre and their mud ponds.

Also you asked about the quality of the koi, well i'm not an expert but they were some of the best koi I have seen. I think what is most impressive is how many jumbo koi were there, and the growth rates that are acheived in that part of the world.

Keep an eye out for my next post tonight, there will be plenty of koi to look at!

For more information about the events held at Sentul Park Koi Centre check out these articles from the Malaysian Star Newspaper.

My mistake, I was a bit off there for sure. Sorry Lukes.
This jumbo thing is most interesting. There water is hard like ours. The food can't be that much different. Could it be they are receiving a better pick of the litter as compared to what koi I grow on the other side of the World? Did you notice koi population densities were low compared to water volume?
Thanks Dubtaco

I will leave it to Roger to answer those questions, he has acheived incredible growth rates at a high stocking density. I think a big part of it is air, water temp, and pond turnover rate.

I missed those events. When I was visiting KL in early Feb, I happened to drive by Sentul park once, I was planning to jump the gang in Sentul and join them for some mud pond fun, but I got very sick and lost a few days of my stay over there. I will try harder next time.

hey Luke

Maybe next time if I win the jackpot I will send you one

Someone ask how koi grow so fast in Malaysia and whether the water is soft. the water is quite soft with low tds between 80 to 100ppm comes out of the tap. i never tested the KH but it cant be that high. With year round heat koi grow literally 2 seasons growth in a year compared to 4 season countries. Luke Shoris mud ponds are located a bit hihger in the hills and I hear the water temp is constantly around 25 degrees, they got good water and beautiful temperature what more could you ask for.

Thanks for the reports and pictures everyone!

Just one thing about the seminars with the breeders. Was the window on last years Maruyama GC Showa mentioned?
