Malaysia Day 2 - Breeder Seminars / Koi Auction

I finally made it home, and somewhat recovered from my jet lag. Here are some highlight pics from the breeder seminars, and the charity koi aution. There was so much going on at the Malaysia Open Koi Championship thats its hard to remember every detail. Here is a quick run down on what the breeders covered during their talks:

- Nogami / Maruyama on All-Japan Combined Show Champion Showa 2005
- Marusyo on Sanke Bloodline
- Danichi on Showa and Kohaku Bloodline
- Fujio Oomo on Showa Bloodline

The Koi auction featured 48 top tosai from the following breeders, and if I remember correctly rasied near RM 90,000:

-Nogami
-Oomo
-Danichi
-Marusyo
-Maruyama (Maruyama had a speacial treat as all of his koi were spawned from his GC Showa)

One of the greatest parts about the auction was that each breeder gave a quick rundown on the potential they thought each of their koi had.

Anyway enjoy the pics, and if Im leaving anything out please let me know!

Wow, nice event...

Must be fun to participate seminars and a tosai auction from five well known breeders at the same time.

Hi Chris,

Glad you made it back safely. Great photos there. Folks were getting pretty impatient for the 2nd instalment of your travel log to be posted, and Luke even ventured to enquire on the length of a day in Malaysia!

As for the others, you may wish to follow this link to Sentul Park Koi Centre in Malaysia where Chris spent a lot of his "vacation" time, sans his better half!

Hi Dubatco

Thanks for the pictures. It must have been fun, I wish I was there. With the aid of a friend I managed to get one of the Maruyama tosai showa that were from last years GC, its a kindai showa and its now in Luke's mudpond. I am quite happy with that showa, to own an off spring of an all japan GC. I will be there for the wakagoi show to help out so maybe see you there.

Wow, what an intense experience. Beautiful facility with very serious koi people. Koi keeping seems very advanced and respected by its patrons. Sentul Koi Center is a public park facility housing retail business for koi related interest only? Must be nice.
Now I here one of the koi is being delivered to Florida for growing Tewa! That brings it close to home.
Thanks for the pictures Dubatco and was the quality of fish far above what can be found in the States? Who do you think helped finance the infrastructure or basic facility of Sentul Koi Center?

Thanks for sharing the info and pix.... I wish we can have an event together with these breeders here in the States to learn about their koi and experiences.

Seems like all attendants there are so serious and focus, no one smiling at all.....

Any more pix with high quality koi?

I have to say that one of the big reasons why this show was such a success was due largely to a few key hobbyist namely Rogermoo and Tansl and a few others.

Hey brother, hope you are not blushing

Hi Roger,

I would have helped out for free, that is how koi kichi I am.

Thanks again for everything.

Also thanks again to TanSL, Chong and everyone else who showed me a great time in Malaysia!

Folks don't worry I took over 1000 pics, going through the process of taking out the bad ones then I will upload all of them to my webspace for viewing.
