Yes, the joke was on me....that pond is 20' long, 12' wide, and 7' deep not an easy task catching koi, even with that oversized net. I should also mention it was about 95 degrees and 99.9999999999999% humidity, but I still had a blast!

the hobbists in Malaysia are the real deal. Given the quality of the koi and their price, the number of high quality koi, and what I know about the living standard there, you just have to be the real koi kichi to own any of these koi.

BTW, given the quality, the price is un-imaginably low for US standard. I paid 1500 US for a Maruyama Tosai, which is not as good in quality to the maruyama on their web, for 6000RM, about 1600 US.

Tell me about it Stan... I was sitting in the koi auction wanting to bid on everything, at one point they had 3 Maruyso Sanke (not the best quality, but far better than what I can get locally) with a starting bid of 1000RM (about $360) if memory serves me right they went for 1600RM.

can't get much with that in the US.

Hi Stan,

Nope I missed out on Thaipusum this trip, but I have been to it in the past. Its just like what you see on Discovery channel, people in a trance sticking themselves with needles, etc.... The only difference when you are there is the smell of the food, and you get a better idea of how large the festival is.

I don't think is all becos of whether you could afford it or not, cos basing on the exchange rate - like I said, it's a 'real steal'. Well, you missed out on another round of fun! Cheers.
I agree Roger, I missed out big time... Not to worry though, this was certinly not my last trip to Malaysia!

I tried to get a cab to the koi park, no one want to get anywhere close to that area. An Indian cab driver told me to camp out around Batu Cave, the night before Thaipusum next time to get the best of it.

a suggestion to Sentul koi, would you mind moving the date of your next fun to avoid collision with Thaipusum ?
