As you all know, KHV is a viral disease highly contagious to koi and common carp; It causes significant mortalities and there is no known cure. I believe this dreadful disease that has the potential to effect everyone and strongly believe in science that can help to develop to cure or treament. With that, I would like to bring KHV awaraness to public as well as trying to help raising fund for AKCA KHV program for helping KHV research. Hope you all can help to support as well....

Information & Funding PROJECT OVERVIEW:There continues to be a growing and well deserved concern about Koi Herpesvirus (KHV). The Associated Koi Clubs of America (AKCA) has a history of funding developing technologies and initiatives to promote koi health. KHV research is currently being funded and additional research projects are being considered. The AKCA’s Koi Health Advisor (KHA) program is in full operation. AKCA has committed funds in excess of $150,000 to Koi Health initiatives that include specific KHV projects. See: http://www.akcaprojectkhv.org/index.htm for more information. PROJECT OBJECTIVES:The project will solicit donations that will be used to fund research, development and education directly related to establishing short term control and long term eradication of koi herpesvirus. Potential areas of funding are: vaccines, other preventatives, more accurate and available tests, recommendations for dealing with KHV survivors, and education and other programs to control the disease. HOW YOU CAN HELP
We have been asked for donation amount suggestions 1) Individual/family TAX DEDUCTIBLE donation. Please consider making a donation based on the number of koi in your collection. Individual/family donations we hope will average about $50. 2) Club donations will hopefully average about $1,000. We have a section on the AKCA PROJECT KHV website to assist with fund raising suggestions. 3) Ask your local koi/pond dealer to make a corporate or professional donation.
