Something blue for Dick san

Here's a page from the travel journal of a Dutch dealer (that incidentally visited the Florida show a week ago) with some blue fishie's on it

http://www.aenc-koi.nl/koitrip/koireis_2006_2.htm

Sorry, dutch only, but I guess one picture can say more than a thousand words!

Florida Koi Show

Haj Regenmeneer,

A&C also published a report about their visit to the Central Florida Koi Show, with some pictures about the koi that where shown. (Alas Dutch only, but normally pictures can say much more than words.

No thanx!

I've read the report and spoke with him about the show before. He had a great time over there

Dick quick question, since Asagi is closely related to Magoi, is there some Magoi fry from the spawning?

Another question for Dick--have you noticed the huge increase of interest in Asagi? I think that it is due to your one-man crusade for the variety.

The other day a friend was looking into the pond and said, "Is that fish BLUE?" Even people who have never seen koi before are paying attention!

I'm glad he enjoyed the trip. He had some challenges because his U.S. rep had a personal emergency and at the last minute could not attend, so no fish to sell or show off. But they did display a nice series of photos and had an album showing their operation, which got some serious looking over. Looking forward to seeing their koi in the flesh.

Mike,

he's getting some great results. I saw the koi he send over just before they left. Looked real good.

I hope to go help him cull soon, or better, hope to attend the culling and learn

Maybe get a chance to get some and grow them. If I do, I'll let you know.

Regarding magoi in amongst the asagi fry. I have never seen any in my spawning or anyone elses that breed asagi to asagi. Most color varieties have been bred long enough now that the genes are pretty true. Believe it or not Toshio has bred magoi to Asagi and my big female is from that breediing. I'm sure it wasn't until the 5th generation that the asagi bloodline began to run true again. I have a male coming from Mat at quality koi this may and will some day breed the pair and see what happens...will let you know.

Chris it is personally rewarding to have been a one man band for the blues.....
I think they are not only beautiful, but challenging to keep at their best and
helpful to understand other color varieties with....gee Johnny Appleseed became an rural legend in his own time, maybe there's hope for me yet <grin>
