Post Yahoo! Maps Nagaoka/Ojiya - Mountain Passes

We're planning to get very lost in Niigata next month, on a short self-drive koi hunt. I came across this reference to share:

http://map.yahoo.co.jp/pl?nl=37.19.4...x=199&CE.y=297

Does anyone know if those pesty passes are still required to drive deeper into the mountains? (We got the address for the Nagaoka gov't office that issues them, but what a hassel and time killer!)

Thanks,

John

Hi John

You still need the pass, to get in the mountains. Different area's require different passes.

Thanks for the info Nancy.

Then in the rare chance anyone needs this, here's the permit office location and contact person.
