3rd Annual Champion Koi Show on May 6th, 2006

It is one of the best koi show I ever attended. It is a young koi show, but it had many extremely high quality koi ever. Special thanks to Koi-Unit, Judges, sponsor Champkoi, all helpers, and all koi kichies that came to support the event.

It was Ann Nguyen, who won the Grand Champion with her Hosokai 3-step Kohaku.... It is a special kohaku that Ann loves it dearly...

Hey guys, yes it was a great show! I felt there were a lot of newbies that entered like myself who usually start off with small sizes anyway. This type of show brought them out to give it a try. All that won were I belive fairly new to the hobby? Kung-sweeped most of the awards with his great fish. Ann-chose and entered the fish she loves then won grand. And my son Cocoy who won best baby. He was so proud, so proud I heard it before we left Champion, on the way home and at home. "My trophy is bigger than yours daddy". And how come I got more correct on the judging contest? I just sat around wondering what happened. He's staying home next year!

What a great weekend for me. Time spent talking koi and even buying a few. The judging was a time of learning as the two judges (and their not so small shadow ) were able to talk about their choices right then. Why they chose a particular fish and what they were using as criteria for that size. A very good learning experience.

Many kudos to Antonio, Erwin, Ruben, Tom Lai, Brian, and several others I have probably missed for their efforts in putting together this first ever Koi Show using bags.

Thank you Chai, Grant, and Tonio for a great learning experience. Thank you Tom and Agnes for another fun filled day of enjoying koi.
