trying to photo wild asagi's

and I failed! Between Trying to keep the fish quiet with a net over the pan and then getting the camera ready, removing the netting and watching the koi trying to bail.....don't know who was more dramatised me or the koi. I took 6 pics all were blurred, the best two, one male, one female were 14 inches. The male's got a clean dorsal at this age which I prefer...hopefully this time next year or maybe this fall red will start at the base of the dorsal as a red dot. The female already had red in the dorsal and that usually means it may be too strong too early. I will try again in a coupla weeks after he settles down. ( and me too!)

I like shooting pics of them at 3-4 inches....LOL...less wild! Hopefully Mat's Ochibas will be more docile!

Pics I took of the bonsai display bench turned out nice ( they don't jump! ) But probably not appropriate for this board.....

Dick: I think folks would like to see your bonsai. The Japanese cultural element makes it work. When I think of bonsai and koi, I see the pond of a well-known British kichi whose pond is bordered by pedestals, each supporting a single, amazing century+ bonsai. ....A nice environment to sit back with a pleasant beverage and enjoy the koi.

I don't think anybody will mind either. Bonsai and koi seem to go hand in hand.

Dick, nice collection. how many years have u been at it?

I would also like to know what climate you live in, (how cold it gets), if u have a greenhouse or indoor spot for them, and if u might be interested in some bonzais from the tropics. (We have ficuses and flamboyans with tiny leaves that make awesome bonzais I can get for you if interested)
