just pondering

while it's a good news to hear that Momo is shipping fish again but how many koi keepers are willingly to take a chance of adding a Momo koi to his/her pond? to me, wait and see approach would be safer. why take a risk of losing the collection of fish that took years to accumulate? to me, there is still a risk and it's not worth taking, not right now. I know Momo received certified KHV free but selling koi is a business.

A good opportunity

Since a lot of people are taking a wait-and-see approach, this will be a time to get great bargains. A few years from now, when everything is back to normal, there may be a lot of regrets of opportunities not taken advantage of. We will probably be seeing a lot of their better fish as they try to regain their reputation.
I plan on jumping on a few.

If the price has doubled for Momo's fish I too will not be buying any. Hell, his prices were high enough before!!LOL

All things considered, I'm sure Maeda-san has spent countless hours and many thousands of dollars trying to "get clean". If he in fact is "clean" then that's great for the hobby (business). I just think it's getting way out of hand and everyone's still chasing that "dream". You're right when you say there are many other breeders who have high quality fish and their prices aren't going up. I wonder who's really jacking up the prices - Momo or the Dealers??!!??

I agree, we will wait and see. I also see prices droping if others feel the same way and wait. We will not risk our collectiion or hard earned money. I know of too many hobbiest and dealers who have lost everything more than once. Some started over and others just walked away.

Mike I think both are jacking up the prices, they figure hobbiest are dieing for a Momo fish... LOL We don't buy name brand, we buy fish that are high quality and priced resonably.

I have heard the dealers complain. They go to Momotaro and find the price much higher than the year before and end up either buying fewer fish of going someplace else were they are more affordable

Two of my Momotaro kohaku arrived a couple of weeks ago. They are in quarantine and doing well.
The first is 70cm sansai the second 68cm sansai. Bought as tosai, these are now cheap koi!
