Momotaro Approved For Shipping Koi

The Momotaro site has an announcement that the koi harvested in March after spending the winter in the mud ponds have been tested and certified KHV-free. They have been approved to ship their koi once more.

I've missed not seeing their koi listed on dealer sites. Usually at this time of year the new listings are mostly tosai that did not make it to the mud after the final selection. Perhaps this year will be a bit different with Momotaro nisai ready for release to dealers showing up in May or June.

Hi Kiky,

Care to share the dealer's name? I'm thinking of getting one. Thx in advance.

Frankly I have noticed on web sites and also heard grumbling from various dealers in different parts of the world that the price of Momotaro koi have gone through the roof without a noticeable improvement in quality! Why should this be?
Is he trying to recoup the money lost in the KHV infection or does he just think he has so much more to offer than anybody else?

Sure his fish are good but does that justify the doubling in price of a certain quality of fish? There are many good dealers out there offering better quality for less I feel.
I don't see myself buying Momo anytime soon.

Mr Scott makes a good point. The only thing I can guess is the old supply & demand rule. If the demand is there then the supply becomes more valuable especially if its a limited supply.

Yep. Prices will come down if they do not sell. If they do sell, that's their value.

...I'm not in the market, but looking forward to see and hear about these koi.

Kiky: How about some photos of the Momotaro koi and your dealer's set up? It would be interesting to see how things are set up in your area.

Koilvr,
The dealer is Samurai Koi in Bandung.

Mike,
Sorry I don't have any photo of his set up or the momo koi. Maybe next time when I have the chance.
