Right, I use it once in a great while on my big goldfish tank in 24 hour magnum application. I've also used the powdered form in a diatom once in a blue moon. It can make water sparkle- maybe, dare I say- better than PP! And without the rish of oxidative burn! LOLs But the mindset needs to adjusted that says- water can only get really clear with chemical absorption type treatments. This is just not true. A well maintained, well designed pond can have rich sparkling water with perhaps the most impirtant thing of all- a surface that is ' tension free' and has a very recognizable look to it. That look is often described as the surface of the water looking like clear clean glass. No bubbles, no stain, no cloud, no oils, no dust, no 'thickness'. If you depend on AC to get this look something is wrong with- the turnover or circulation in general, your stocking level, your feeding technique, you pond shape, you filter design or your maintenance schedule.

You misunderstood....

Hi,

I 'don't "think" I wasn't seeking to use a carbon filter for filtering the 'existing' in-pond water, I was seeking to use a carbon filter for pre-into filtering of the pond water.

However, I am still looking for something to increase the quality of the pond water. I want whatever will eliminate the little finds that continue to plague my newest pond.

One of the problems could be related to the following_

Apparently, a herein now unnamed pond installaton and hard goods "expert" who came to the island to work on my ponds and who reinstalled all of my NeXus and Answer units - made some installation error, as now the K1 comes up and fills up the inside of the Answer.

Yes, there is a small plastic screen that fits within the pipe that is within the Answer which was engineered to feed the water - However, it too becomes completely clogged with the K1, as this same pipe fills up and clogs with the K1.

I've had to remove the screen to let the K1 float freely out, but now the inside of all of the recently reinstalled Answer's are all filling-up with the K1. Thus, it is not only one of of my NeXus units, but all which were most recently installed.

What would you do - other than not to pay for the installation and my being really angry of this and some other incompleted problems - do you have any advice on how to 'stop the K1' from getting into the inside of the Answer?

....all the K1 floating up will soon stop the rotor spray arm(s) and freeze the motors and burn them out.

Show us some pics Lee. here is a link to maurice's vortex that might give u some insight to an easy and affordable solution-

Pics will help us see the current install and possible problems and solutions. Glad I don't know who did the install. Let's keep it that way.

Hi Lee,

I had a club member that was having the same problem with Kaldnes flowing from the outer chamber into the inner chamber. They had a screen before their Answer so it did not get into the Answer, but the Kaldnes eventually clogged up the "kiss" points between the inner and out chambers. The problem was the way they were cleaning their Nexus. If you do not lower the water level on the outer chamber before dumping the inner chamber, water will flow from the outer chamber to the inner chamber carrying Kaldnes with it. If you drop the water level of the outer chamber below the height of the center pipe before dumping the inner chamber, water will not flow backwards. Turning off your Nexus aerator when dumping the inner chamber helps as well.

Once you get all the Kaldnes cleared out of the inner to outer transition area, try the above and see if that helps.
