Thanks for the update. The follow up on how you followed through could be helpful to a lot of people down the road, especially since we're all coming up on hot weather.
I think your point about following one persons advice at a time is very well taken. I've read a lot of threads (on other forums) where contradictory and sometimes horrible advice was given to people with predictably bad results. I know some people don't really care much for some of Doc Conrads opinions, but the man really knows a lot about water chemistry and if he happens to do something wrong he'll tell on himself so others won't make the same mistake.

The way i see that plan is it is good for an emergency like birdman had, but not too sure it will take you to what I would consider the 'ultimate' water. It did get you out of a nasty pinch tho, and that is good info. Maybe from there you can move towards that 'ultimate' water.
