Growing season and seeding in spirulina

With growing season at our doorstep and folks thinking about growout and size and maintaining beni/hi,
I was wondering how many of you have in the past or are considering seeding in some good spirulina or doing a shrimp hatchery?

If so, what have you done, or what would you do?

Anyone know of any good sources for spirulina in the US?

I know we had touched on that subject a while back on one of jnorth's threads, and I would be interested to know what the rest of you are thinking or doing in that area.

This week I noticed new energy and feeding desire in my koi, they are eating more and seem to be in the beginning of another growth spurt. Since the growing season is 364 days a year here (i give them xmas off), it is a nice feeling every spring when I still see a marked hunger and activity difference. I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of another female and building more ponds, one large one is almost complete, maybe 1 or 2 more weeks and it'll be done (if I can hold the rain off). It will be a start of a 50k gallon project for the first phase of my building here. I have been quiet about it, but now it's almost done and I can't keep my mouth shut anymore. I am thinking about seeding in some spirulina but want to know your thoughts and experiences with that.

The thought behind feed color enchancers is the thought of having the same water conditions as Japan. Good genetics will only get you by so far. Since we all know softwater helps maintain beni we need some color enchancer food for the koi. If you feed color enchancers for 2 months straight during the peak summer months that could help maintain the beni quality.
