I like how you picked the showas. One for now and one for later . It should be fun to see how the two develop.

the traditional....looks pretty standard, the kindai looks like will have a really nice body shape, and the sleeper is the sanke which will grow long before it bulks and you will be surprised when it is 3 or 4 how much black comes up.

Gee i wonder which one I'm partial to......bottom line....very nice koi and will be a hoot to watch finish....

Was down in SoCal to pay a visit to Eastern and ended up picking up a few things for my friends... But anyways, saw the batch of fish that came in and was pretty impressed with the quality and the price range that was offered. Anyways, I saw a few I wanted, but decided the long drive would be hard on the fish, maybe next month. But I have to say that the new Koi Bowls that Frank has made are really nice...

Here you go. The comparison is with the smallest Lim Bowl. The color of the bowl is more on the Japanese color side and alot taller(bowl is 70cm). The pic doesn't show how straight the walls are because of the angle. But compared to the real thing at the store there is no difference!!!

Japanese Bowl: comparison.

Lim Bowl:
Pros: The US version of koi bowl. Not many dealers carry his bowls because difficult person Lim is.(so I dont really know if this is a pro)

Cons: too shallow, more tapered sided so fish have a higher likelihood of jumping out. The blue is too dark for viewing fish.

Hydra Bowl:
Pros: Same build as Japanese bowl and maybe just a shade lighter.

Cons: Hard to get here in the US, and the tub is so durable that it is kinda too heavy to be moving from one place to another. This is because the thickness of material that is used.

FM Bowl(Eastern):
Pros: Same as the Japanese Bowl so whatelse is there?

Cons: ? Not yet...
