I think I need to fo FIR a walk, am I the only one in here not on meds??? I always assumed I was arguing with sane people, now I think I must have been arguing with myself, kinda scary.

I think like Luke, that Brian has already proven himself in terms of content and quality, BUT it will HAVE to be maintained in order for the site to be worth a good number of banner ads. Without it site visitorship will be too low. With it, why then he can demand mo' money for banners. He is pretty good at making those banners too. He can even have a low rent page of 'links' or 'ads' and sell space, up the monthly income some. 100 $35/mo. items are easier to sell than 20 $140/mo. items. Some of his customers would want both, which means they would be paying what they probably should have been all along. He could potentially double his income, or at least come close to it that way. That way he could spend the funds needed to go visit these breeders for in depth interviews, and shoot us some nice videos. Forget a print mag, how about a DVD quality mag????

hey JG

I love the print mag, and if there isn gonna be one, I opt for a dvd mag (this would save heaps on printing and shipping), Brian has to travel to get the print information anyway why not just film it while he is there and add naration.

i also love printed one much more than the on-lined mag.
if that's possible to mark up the postage charge and/or
give us a new price that you and me can afford together.

on lined magazine , dvd mag. or something else are not bad when we do not have any good other choices.

I really hope Brian has been reading our feedback. Lot's of suggestions about how to proceed. Only he knows the financial picture of his magazine. If he uses some of these recommendations and provides an e-zine I can live with that (as long as it's a subscription, not free). Keeping the ad content down, IMHO, is paramount for all of us. Maybe it could be put in at the end, so, if you really want to look at them you can. I know Brian will continue to provide in-depth interview-type articles about the breeders and such. I for one look forward to it

Brian,

You could cover the interviews in one trip to Niigata and one trip to Isawa/Hiroshima areas that would cover 12 issues for one year with no problem. Hope it works out for you and us. Really look forward to hearing how it will all work out. Wish we didn't have to wait til August, though!!

anyone that is of the opinion that the Advertising needs to be kept down is not thinking clearly.
A magazine (the old antiquated pulp magazine ) is limited to the number of pages, So if an ad was sold then copy was removed.
let me give you two sites which are different concerning advertising...NI and Koiphen.
on the net it is not about the amount of advertising...it is the amount and quality of content.

And since so many of you cannot be rational, and think that because you like koi-bito (and have the resources to support the work of brian) you feel like his work should not be shared. petty, thoughtless, juvenile, and selfish are a few words that I am allowed to post on this site. if I were to talk to you in person there is worse I would refer to you as, And you deserve it. Would it hurt you if you paid for your subscription and the information is made public as well? Do you voice your concern the same when it comes to public libraries? Sad very sad, when adults think so poorly.
if the group that now pays for the magazine would give half as much for the establishment of a koi e-zine to be developed by Brian the content and quality would most likely improve by several times its current quality and/or content.
but owning koi does not mean you are enlightened...evidently.

Just a bunch of adults whining about something that hasn't happened. And is such a minor part of their lives and almost the ruin of a man most call, "friend."

ya all can't wonder why i don't get all lovey-dovey with most of the "koi Hobbyists"? it is because in some cases they are less than the average human. And this is one.

Brian's life has changed, his outlook has changed, his goals have been "re-defined, "and many of you just want to voice your concern (about your own damn selves) about not having a mag to read while on the crapper...on having too many ads.
look around..my words are harsh, but your thoughts are much harsher

You're right Luke, you are just TOO beautiful for this world. We don't deserve you. You should punish all of us and disappear for a while.

JR we've always had this attraction for each other, but I think it has little to do with the childish reaction of so many that pretend to be friends.

I understand Luke. But this is the dance of the internet, imaginary friends and all. In life we are lucky if we have a handful of true friends, at least that is what I've always been told? On the internet everyone is ' a dear friend'. Until they are not! LOls It’s the political currency of the internet. Someday a sharp psych college student working on a masters will do a his/he paper on the amazing phenomena of social illusions and the internet. It has been interesting watching message boards try and become more than about the fish, a social identity of sorts? In this case, it is around a commercial magazine. Maybe that’s the operative word and the source of confusion? Commercial? Now you’ll excuse me, I have a lunch date with my dry cleaner--- JR

...sniff, sniff.....JR, does this mean we aren't really going to run off to Tahiti and get married someday? I feel so confused - I thought you understood me.

Luke, I guess I'm all yours now.

Actually meeting some of the folks who post here in real life is what brought me to this board in the first place. The phenomenon that JR is talking about can seem kinda creepy sometimes, however. But even Ben Franklin had the Silence Dogood thing going on..........
