The way I read it is that Brian will decide whether or not there will be an issue 11 by August. If there is not going to be one then he will give refunds for all the issues left on your subscriptions if you are not happy with whatever his solution is. Thats how I read it anyway. Stupid? I wasn't insinuating that at all about anyone and you have my apology if it came across that way.

So it looks like August will be the time when he looks at those issues and does what he can to make good on the money end. Can't get any clearer than that.

Having paid for nice print ads for many business things, I can tell you if all he has collected is the few folks worth of subscriptions on the various boards, the printer pretty much already has all that money.....- life is tough and business is tougher. I am just glad he has found a way to continue the forum and online version and to finance it.

I really don't think it makes sense to compare other mags to this one at all, one look at content says it all. Buy some PP stock and let's see how high we can all get our ph.....

I think u get my point JR. Let's support him and give him some time to work thru it financially. Having paid for high quality printing in the past, he isn't coming close to breaking even, in my 'professional' business assesment mind. Hopefully having an online version will give him time to focus even more on content and spend even more time with special breeders, instead of chasing 'possible' print ads around.

So basically Jungle, you are suggesting that Koi-Bito will publish no more printed magazine/material until August and only then decide IF issue #11 will be printed sometime after that date? Is that your interpretation? If so, how on earth can this magazine stay in business as a printed medium? I'll make a side bet with you, Koi Bito will go the route of Rinko- and become an electronic publication in August. What say you? $100? Or instead of cash, you can pay for my first 2 years electronic subscription ? JR

Yes JR, that is my interpretation of things. Looks like that is the situation due to the reasons Brian gave. Are you suggesting he should let his kids starve and do otherwise? Gosh, I hope not. I am sure his medical care was 'free' too lol- life is not always what any of us want it to be, but it is what it is.

I don't think it will a paid online subscription JR. I think as long as he keeps the quality like it is and the content on top, and the forum pumped up, lots of serious hobbyists will be here, and that will make it a worthwhile spot for koi related businesses to pay for banner ads. Plus they can auction stuff here where there is already an audience, instead of paying for and building their own auction site and trying to promote it and get visitors to it. Looks like that is the reality of the lay of the land business wise at the moment JR.

As for you offer, I did not realize you were in such dire straights financially , but if u need it and Brian does charge, which it doesn't look to me like he will, yeah, I will help you out, no wager needed.

Yes George , I am quite poor- the koi eat me out of house and home! So I will print the page and have it available for your account's assistant's book keeper!

No I'm not suggesting abandonment. I was here before you and I think I will be here after you!
I still don't follow the logic that overhead is the only difference between printed and electronic delivery as that is only one side of the balance sheet? But I'm sure Brian has run the numbers and finds that new risk is a better road than current math.
I would also regret lossing this resource but then again, I went through this same sadness with the loss of Rinko- I still miss that information source. But I guess life is , in the end, about change. You may not know this, but I offered Rinko's owner a deal- to ship me, via bulk seamail rate, all the USA's issues and I would send them out from NYC. All, in order to keep him from ending publication. I offered to do it as a Non-Prof fufilment center. He turned me down flat. He thought Rinko on line would be a run away hit. The rest is history.

Don't send it to my accountant JR, she is under standing orders to permanently stonewall everyone and to hide my entire existence. She is happy with that as it means she basically- does nothing. Just remind me in a pm...

I am sure you and I will both be around a long time- not sure who was on the net first as I had a different nic way back then and really did not see a point in posting, and didn't keep track of everyone else as sites were opening and closing like mad, who would have thought we would be where we r today then. I guess who is around longer depends on who lives longer, I hope we both have along waaay to go with that.

James, Sorry to get off subject here, But what do you guys think of Rinko? I get it but don't think I'll renew, Just not exciting like KB!! Also, I find those first endless pages of adver. really hard to digest. Nichirin seems to be my fav. in fact I really like it, though I and the mag. have been put in our place a couple of times by the garden pond people.... Maybe Rinko is lost between my monitor and my glasses. I'am really not sure any more if it's me or the Mag.

I like print than e-mag. What's goin to stop someone from giving copies of the e-mag to others for free? By the way since most of these articles are translated from Japanese articles anyways, how long does it take to translate one article?

There were a couple of articles that were in the KB mag that were in the Nishikigoi Monthly mag over 2 years prior...

I think 99.9% of us are like dogs on a porch waiting for the mailman to come and bring the goods. Just a little note: people check their mailbox more than they check their email.

I am 100% for a magazine...if there aint one forget it.
