Talking I think we agree... mostly

Being a lab junkie from the old school I'm pretty familiar with ceramic properties and pricetags, so I know where you're coming from. It ain't cheap to make so it can't be cheap to sell
Your definition of healthy BS/BH water is my definition of good water... period, not matter how it gets that way. In fact my current pond renovation incorporates a BS/TT hybrid for about 50% of the filtration. Lotsa aeration/degassing and my water will make my Koi smile every day . But then again, my old, undersized, submereged tub full of lava rock and a puny upflow air ring has been producing great water too sooooooooooo???

As far as growth rates- I had other koi in the exact same pond there for a year, they grew from 6" to 12". Same food, not Momotaro, still working on getting that over here.

I personally think it is due in part to the oxygenation of the shower, and in part to water quality, and also in part to what Daisuke said about the change in actual taste and smell in the water, all affecting their hunger eating habits. Not only do they devour the food quickly but they graze passionately most of the time. Makes them more enjoyable to view cuz they r always out and about hunting food instead of hiding under the waterfall.
