Ahaha Nancy, you got me... as I mentioned in early post, I hope Steve will turn the mag into new lips as well as new taste;-))

I really enjoyed the Kodama articles too. I also always enjoy the Judge's Corner exercises. I started subscribing because at the time, that was the only koi magazine that I knew of. I suspended my subscription a couple of years ago when the content started going downhill and I became aware of other magazine. I don't really mind the advertertizing at all. I just care about the quality of the articles. With Steve at the helm, I'll probably pick up an issue later this year and then make a decision.

More advertertizing will help to bring the mag. up to the quality level we want. With $24.00 dollars for one year subscription, the cost of postage for each mag is more than the subscriber pay for each mag. So it is very hard for any mag to survive without ad support.....

Like Dan said, I don't mind about advertertizing if it has meat in it.....

Thumbs up

I still read it faithfully. I like some of the scientific articles that I can't find elsewhere. I also enjoy the kodama articles and the judges corner a great deal. Don't know why a koi lover wouldn't buy it?!?! I do wish the show coverage was more extensive. Everybody loves pics and comparisons to see where their own fish stand.

It is great that Steve is now at the helm but I think in order for the magazine to improve, true koi hobbyists will have to submit articles for the publication. If the articles for the publication are not forthcoming, not much will change. I think Jim Reilly should have a standard space for an article in each publication, since he is no longer traveling. I think he has plenty of time and it's a way to capture in print what we've been reading free of charge for years on the message boards. Let's come up with a name for Jim's bi-monthly articles- how about John Smith's Koi Corner.

I already did mine! LOL (page 67)

Seriously I would hope that he could gradually get away from the watergarden aspect of KoiUSA and move it into the area of true koikeeping provided it doesn't cost too many members.

Even I get that joke Luke, Steve's fame has even reached these shores.

I have to thank Steve for introducing me to the phrase "Frogs n bogs" a term I have used over here to great effect.

Editors can make a difference I have seen it happen over here, but they still need the support and input of the mainstream hobbyist if that's where they want to focus the magazine. The best support you can give him is to provide him with copy. Please remember to spellcheck it before submission
