Priming new Kohak for Show...

My friend gave me this Kohak to Prime for the Sac Show in Oct. I already read the future potential of it and I think it just needs a bit of work before the show. I know the fish is male, so we will see how the fish will be after the summer growing session.

Well, in all honesty most people would back away from a koi like this because of the conformation and with the beni being to finished. I studied the fish at a dealers for almost an hour in the bowl. I studied the bone structure of the fish and found that it was built really good even great. I looked at the future of the fish and saw it very bright..Even thou it is male, to me it didnt matter. I didnt buy it cause I was planning on goin to Niigata in Nov...but advised one of my koi buddies of this potential fish. He came down and we both looked at it and I explained that this fish wasn't finished by a long shot. The Dainichi line Kohaks get better and better with each year and knowning that this fish will fill out with a great body later.

The pattern is very flowery, the skin and bone structure is there to make this Kohak worth keeping even thou it is male. My job now is to soften up the look of the fish and to give it a more youthful presents.

For $250, my friend got a good koi and I get to study it while it is in my pond.

thanks for your response. I think it helps those trying to learn get some idea toward moving toward the goal.

I did not attend yesterday's seminar by Art Lempke for the Pacific NW koi clubs Association in the tri - cities...I wonder if any of our readers went and might fill in some additional points....on preparing for shows....( what to look for as discussed) what to do now with the decision
