i have to get back with you, my friend, you have done everythings that we asked. we should stick with you to the end.

The first time i do a scope, i do not find anything. even the fish die. not that you scope and you always see. normally take 2, 3 scopes to get the parasite, sometime i do not see anything at all, but the parasite exist. First you use a template that they sale for student to practice. adjust to see clear at 100x. change to 40x then move the fish slide to the right spot that you want to look, then turn back again to 100x. look carefully around the countour then get to the inside. Parasite exept Chilo, stay on the dead fish for hours but only few minutes on the slide. scrap at the opening of the gill or on a dead fish, broke the gill cover and scrap right on the gill. The fact that you have lessions on the fish means you have parasites. the gill it may get attacked spotty or some time it just real pale. I have a case of KHV, some fish gill messy, some just pale. Touch the fish, if you feel sand paper at some area, then that area is attacked by parasites, fish use all their slime at that area, and fail, that why you do not feel greasy.that area need to be scope along with the gill. I asked you about the discoloration of the kohaku, if the red turn yellow in some area, and the gill messy, that the first sign of KHV. but KHV wipe out you entire pond in just couple days, not one by one. the fact that you use hospital tank is a good idea, but it also create problem on water parameter. it need couple weeks to get ripe. man, just like me before, i lost my appertise on any kind of fish now, i only have very few. just tired of it.

Well today when I came home from work I couldn't believe it. My pond is crystal clear and the fish aren't flashing and the are all in a group. The only thing different I did is moved the 12" air stone to the center of the pond and this morning I had alot of skim foam along the edges. This is the clearest my pond has been since I started it. I'm going to be adding a skimmer this weekend so when I drain it for that I will catch multiple fish and scrape and scope them. I have the Chlorimine T and I'm going to build a QT tank with the extra liner I have with a wooden box. I could believe it, it's like night and day. What the heck happened. Did the air stone act like a protien skimmer and desolve the bad stuff? They are completely different acting and all. I do still want to scope them though.

If your fish are behaving differently now (and seem less stressed) maybe your filter finally kicked into gear - The aerobic bacteria have been known to slowly come on line and then, from one day to the next, boom, you're pond clears and everything is okay. If you are just building the Q-tank and don't have a "seasoned" filter on it, I don't recommend putting the fish into it YET! Is there some other reason for moving the fish? All you will do is stress them out again. Be PATIENT! Ponds/filters take about 2 to 4 years to REALLY MATURE. In the meantime, keep an eye on your ammonia/nitrite/Ph levels. If those are under control, you may have hit the half-way mark of enjoying your fish. Sometimes doing too much too soon can be just as dangerous as doing nothing at all.

Got up this morning and saw a wonderer from the crowd. I caught him with eaze and did some scoping. I did his gills and found nothing. I did a body scrape and looked up to 300x and saw tiny things moving all over the place but saw nothing that I have seen in picture that I need to look for. He's still alive in a container. He has some tailrot and his mouth seems to have reddness. Where else should scrape again?

Tiny things moving? Were they moving in one direction or moving in random directions?

That's pretty close to what they looked like in the video but I could only go to 300x. I lost 2 more fish today. The Kohaku I lost is the one I scraped and it ended up dying about a hour after pull the samples from him and then right know I notice my Asagi was on the bottom of the pond dead. He we go with more loses. I'l be getting them out tomorrow morning and what should be my chloramine-Tdosage on a holding tank that is 75 gal.

I don't know what to tell you. If you saw what was in that video then you have costia. I didn't see costia listed as being something that is killed by Chloramine T but here is some info on dosages.

I have Erik L. Johnson's book and it says to easily treat them with salt. So I started a salt dose today. Here's a quote from the book.

Free swimming Costia are extremely smal; graceless wobbly swimmers that look like commas or almost likehalf open couch shells. Costia clears easily with salt, and this infection should be suspected when alot of fish are dying. Finsmay be reddened, and it appears that fish cannot breathe very well. Spiderweb lesions in rapid;y dying fish are also characteristics of Costiasis as well as excess mucus.
