Smile Please judge 4 asagi!!!!!

I have acquired 4 new asagi. I am going to sell some and keep some (probably keep two of them). A heron ate the one I had for the last year!!!
Please judge them 1-4. If you can include your reasoning, it would greatly help my decision. They are all 7-8 inches and bred in the USA from Hosokai parents. I appreciate all the help and advice I have received from the members on site...so..thanks in advance!!!

If you number them from left to right 1-2-3-4, I would pick 4-1-2-3.

For me, 4 is the cleanest overall with the best confirmation and color, although it will probably be darker. 1 will be lighter, but the confirmation is not as good as 4. To me 2 and 3 are a toss up or a toss out.

I'm with Russ on this 4123. If I had the space I would keep 4 and 1 to study the differences as they age.

I'd go 1-4-2-3. Two thing have me placing the 1 above 4. I always worry about fish getting too dark especially if you have water that is on the hard side. The other thing is the kuchibeni is distracting to me on an asagi. Both of those are personal preference things though.

I'd also like to see the sides of the fish to see how far up the hi is at this stage.

Ok...this was my most difficult choice..2 and 1. Why 2 before 1?? Definitely curious.

Thumbs up

The body and scale pattern on #4 tips the scale for it being the best fish to me, and the broader head on #2 gives it greater growth potential than #1 IMHO. 1 & 3 both look to have narrow snouts giving them more likely skinny male syndrome as they mature. Curious to see others opinions as I'm an Asagi newbie.

When I cull Asagi, I look first for what appears to be the best potential for a clear head, hence #4 and 2. Then I look for the lightest .#1 is a better example.....but the head, red and appearance of male has me swayed toward
2 away , where the red is down quite a bit.

If i could take the head of four, the red of 2 and 1's light grey back and combine it.....that's the one I'd be looking at to retain.

My sweetie, I call Kimiko....was very light grey at 2 while her sisters already were developing asagi hahn blue. they sold first....now at 4 you can see which one is the better of the koi. the old rule of thumb about taking longer to get there has some value. a tosai that looks like the picture of a GC at 5 or 6 yrs
is just passing thru.....
