Swam with the fishes today

Well, sort of. My koi spawned today and eggs were everywhere. I swam in the pond a little while ago to retrieve a lot of string algae filled with eggs that were located near the pond floor. Might be a low hatching rate this time, if at all as most of the eggs looked white/unfertilized.

But they looked the same way last year and a year before and I was able to get koi fry so keeping my fingers crossed. My poor female shusui looks like a skinny male now.

As usual, my wife thought I was crazy.

Remember my pond is 6.5 feet deep in total depth everywhere. So it wasn't like I was just reaching in from the sides of the pond to grab the algae.

Hey Blue you want to breed Asagi, I got a 24" male you can barrow.... I need to lighten the load, plus I want to see how it would be to breed Asagi...Let me know...

hahaha. Just treated with malachite green. Hope they stop spawning, my male(s) don't take no for an answer.

don't have any other asagis in my pond. Wouldn't mind taking it when my pond is redone. Right now, my diy pond might not be the best for your fish, my hard water might cause your beautiful asagi to darken up.

But definitely later on if the offer is still good.

Not sure if this spawn will yield anything but mutts because it was a mass spawn. Crossing my fingers though, past two years yielded decent results, but they were with some koi that I no longer have now.

Ok, got a bunch of baby fry on the sides of my aquarium today and a bunch of free swimmers. Gotta break out the brine shrimp coctails soon!
