Free Koi from SCVKC.....

FREE FISH!!

On July 8th and 9th we will be draining the pond of Adra Ross located at 505 Coon Heights Rd in Ben Lomond, CA 95005, in Santa Cruz county. This is a 375,000 gallon pond and contains many Koi of varying sizes, varieties and qualities, as well as thousands of goldfish. The pond will be emptied and ALL FISH MUST GO!
Most fish will be FREE! "Donations" will be taken for some fish and profits will go to the Santa Clara Valley Koi & Water Garden Club.
Now is the time to give some Koi or goldfish a good home. For further information, call Dan Rutledge at (831) 338-7288 or (831) 246-1414. Here are the directions, or use Google Maps online. Get there early for the best choice.

Directions:
1. From Hwy 17 at Scotts Valley, take the Mt. Hermon Rd exit.
2. Go west (right) on Mt Hermon Rd to Felton, 3mi.
3. Bear right on Graham Hill Rd, .1mi.
4. Turn right on Hwy 9, 1.8mi.
5. Turn left on Coon Heights Rd, go .3mi to address. Look for SIGNS

so how many hrs, if not days, will it take to drain 375K gals pond? I guess it depends on the pump or pumps or whether they will blow up the dam or not

it will take 2 days to drain her pond. I was there during SCVKC's pond tour couple years back. Wish to have that pond for raising my koi;-))

This is a question I've had for a while, what would you take with you if you were picking up a fish, say 600 miles from home?

That was part of the reason I was very reluctant to go to the All Bay Area Show. Usually we drive halfway back and stay in a hotel. How do you keep a large koi alive for that long?

I live in Los Banos and was wondering on how they're going to work it out for the Koi since you said donations for some of them? Does this mean some of the nicer/bigger koi are going to recommend a high dollars amount for donation? I would like to go but the money issue would be a problems. I'll be spending $50 on gas alone to go. I have no problem donating some money. Also how are they going to do the picking? Is it first come first serve or taking bids on fish? I would love to get a large beautiful koi even if it's not of high quality. Just the size would be a statement to me.

Setve,

Most of fish will be FREE.

Donation is just to help out the Santa Clara Valley Koi Club if you would like to do so.

Beth,

bags are normally used for both small and large koi shipment. I saw many 30+ koi shipped from Japan for more than 20 hrs without any issue. You can also used transportation tank as well.
