my new showa

Dear all,

I just got this locally bred baby showa. Well, my sole purpose for getting this is for my own learning and experiment. It's 12 cm and i guess she is quite stressed when i took this photo which could be seen from her skin. Its now in my own mud pond (12x20x2), water is supplied from spring water. I feed her with Nozomi Wheat Germ (sadly i can't get small sized Hikari and Saki here) 5 times a day and i give her vegie supllement twice a week. Do you mind to comment my fish please ? Coz i really need it.

Thanx a lot!
Yours sincerely
Dimas

Cool

I see some great potential,
But who am I?
Im no one.

Just from what I have seen in the past(in other koi), I see a lot of potential in your koi!
Your koi WILL have more Sumi ( black ) on it in the future.

Since almost all of the colors are very weak and out of contrast, most of the time this is a sign that your koi is still growing a lot, and since it is growing at a fast rate, its colors cant catch up.

I can see the begginings of a black V mark on your showas head.
This is very much desired in showa.

The Shiro (white) on your koi is a little smudgey, but Hopefully it will become more pure

WHO CARES WHAT ALL OF THE MEMBERS SAY ABOUT YOUR KOI, Since you appreciate it, that is all that matters. Its #1 in your book.

My Advice would be to not push the beni with rapid growth. I think slowing it down would be in it's best interest....

Dick makes a very good point, alot of hobbyist emphasis is in growing their fish fast with alot of food. If the fish has the genetics to grow then it will grow with little help. This Showa is a project, try to keep the overall quality.

Thanx alot for all your comments!
Well, i feed her 5 times a day because she is still very young and eats alot but of course i don't feed in excess. And it's true that i don't want her to finish too soon. Do you have any idea how to keep and maintain a showa ?
