Comments on this sanke

I pulled this sanke out of my pond to take a few pictures & figured I'd put them up for comment. It is a 2 year old at 31.25cm. The pictures arent great because of the reflection but should be ok enough to allow a fair assessment. Thanks in advance. Dont worry you wont hurt my or the kois feelings lol!!!

31.25cm?

Looks more like 3.0cm to me
REALLY hard to see at such a small size photo, but it looks decent from what little I can tell. Try saving it as a jpeg that doesn't pixelate when you enlarge it. (mspaint sucks )

Thumbs up Mo Betta

Look Ma. The bmp minnow grew into a jpeg KOI
Body, Sumi, and Shoroji look pretty good. The hi plates are a bit suspect, but it may just be the photo reflection you mentioned. Is the sashi/kiwa REALLY yellow, or is it just the photo tricking things up?

No the sashi/kiwa is not yellow. It looks more like just a slightly lighter orange.

Pictures are always best when the koi is in a blue bowl but from what I can see the hi is pretty bad. Sumi looks nice though. Hey but as long as you like it then what everybody else thinks doesn't matter. You should see this speckled monster I have. I think just about everyone on the board would cringe if I posted a pic of it.

Well, it is recognizable as a Sanke....not a speckledygoi. If in a blue bowl it may look much better. As is, the Hi looks blotchy and it is not possible to tell what is accurate and what is the result of reflection and ripples.

ok I will give you an honest view point.

The sumi screams Jimbei, a type I hold in high esteem and with utmost respect.

The beni looks like it is either filling in or breaking up. The shiro is kind of hard but white. Looks like it may be a non Japan koi (maybe Malaysia?) that has Jimbei mixed with something else, or it could be Jimbei that does not have his best shiro and beni yet. Can you tell us where it came from?

I was told this fish was bred in the US from Hoshikin Koi Farm bloodlines. The sumi has been steadily increasing in clarity from what was once mostly hidden. In the future i will take better pictures.
I am not familiar with the term Jimbei. Can you explain further please.
