saturday seminar in Spokane

the inland Empire is hosting me as a speaker this saturday on Tosai. I'm hopeful that those in the vicinity of idaho or Northeastern oregon that can make it, would love to see you there...Much of the information shared will be from information aquired at Toshio sakai's Improptu teaching sessions....bring your questions...no slide shows here, we're talking live koi, hands on and smaller groups.

Smile Open Invitation

Wow, local club brings in another great speaker. Progressive and positive information given to our club members from sage orators really keeps enthusiasm alive for koi clubs. Spokane will have hosted Joel B. in June and now Dick B.in July, both bring years of experience to the table for club members to enjoy and learn from.

August 19-20, Spokane's 7th annual koi show will be held for the first time at Riverfront Park, where Expo 74 (Worlds Fair) was held. K-B readers, if you can find you're way to our show, you will really enjoy the venue along with some outstanding hobby related vendors. But most of all, Spokane and surrounding areas offers up many fun and outdoor related activities that will bring you back, again and again.

Dick, our club welcomes you this Saturday, hope you get a grand tour of the area. Rumor has it, Gene Anderson has washed up the old buggy and mowed the grass for your arrival. Big bonus for our local vendors, a personal visit to their facilities on Friday. I'll bet you get asked as many great questions from them as you do from you're teaching Saturday. Welcome to Spokane, looking forward to seeing you again!

Cool Welcome to Redneck country

Jeans and tshirts will do just fine. North Idaho is God's country, and our little piece of it is the Redneck Koi Barn. Mowed the grass but didn't find any old cars, so we're all ready for our guest of honor!!!

Thumbs up Dick's a great Teacher

For those of us that attended Spokane's Koi club meeting this Saturday afternoon, we all came away from Dick's Benbow's teaching forum richer for the experience. Dick spoke about nisai at one of our local vendors digs, Blue Iris. Kathy Thompson and husband Terry set-up a confortable settting with two large show tanks filled with various types of nice quality nisai. Dick proceeded to discuss the merits of each, keeping those in attendance spell bound with his endless knowledge base. Many great questions were answered by Dick as well, he finally had to bring the session to a close, he began to loose his voice after better than an hour and a half of talking. I'm not sure who enjoyed this session more, our club or Dick, but for those clubs looking for information about koi, any information give Dick a call and see if he will join you're group for a session in Koi.

Thank you Dick for taking time away from home, we all enjoyed it!

I appreciate the kind remarks, thank-you. I worked hard for several dacades
learning all that stuff and i can't think of anything I like to do better than share it. especially with such an eager crowd, and good follow up questions. I liked it so much I'm coming back in a month to do some benching for their show!

The end of this month will be fun to visit with the best folks in the world....koi people....in Portland, where if i'm good , Linda and Larry will let me help bench! Hope to see my KB friends from oregon there...

This show season stuff is alright! I'm always sad to see September come because Seattle's show means the end of the season. kentaro sakai from hiroshima will be head judge.....I think it would be awesome to be able to follow the show season around the world and just emerse yourself with koi shows and koi people....365 days of the year...( alright quit laughing!) A koi nut can dream
can they?????LOL

Thanks to My hosts Gene and Phyllis for a new appreciation of idaho.....if they have anythinmg to do with it famous potatoes will soon be famous koi!

We need to hear more from Benbow

Just as a followup to our Spokane meeting, we've heard such great comments from our group about Dick's presentation on koi that people want to hear more from this guy. He has the unique ability to speak about koi in terms that those non-Japanese-literate of the hobby can actually understand!!

Maybe we need to get Mr. Benbow started traveling and speaking so he actually can talk about koi all year long!!!

This was a fantastic program by Dick Benbow. Your club and members will be very fortunate if you can get him to come and give this program. Oh well, Dick, the secret is out and you may be booked 3 out of 4 weekends (he-he)
