IMHO....No offence intended
The following is a part of a note that I sent this morning, to a VERY prominent member of our KOI COMMUNITY. This is just the opinion of one Hobbyist. (One who still has a lot to learn and who WANTS to learn about KOI, not about the Idiosyncrasies of the Human Condition. No offence intended.)
YiK,

"....My wish is to help you succeed with your project and to help heal some of the damage from the current situation in Niigata.
I just read about the KHV thing in Niigata. Oh MY!!! What a shame for all concerned!!! I was proud, though, of all who were involved and how the situation is being handled. Personally, I will still purchase koi from the breeders of Niigata, and be even more confident in the quality and health of their koi, as their diligence and safety protocols appear of the highest standards.
If you care to see what some are saying in the koi hobby about the situation, (both good and bad), you might want to go to the KIO-BITO Forum. Some of the 'conversation' is sort of out of line (of a personal nature) but in general one can get an interesting 'take' on the feelings of some concerned hobbyists. I'm not in agreement with some of the sentiments expressed, but that's what the system of 'freedom of expression' and 'choice' allows for.
These breeders have done so much to bring the industry to where it is today. I doubt that they are going to jeopardize what they have built by being secretive and ignoring the valid concerns of their customers.
There is a lot more to this situation than who is at blame. The impact to the hobby, to the families and businesses involved in the Koi Industry--this could be huge! Hopefully in the end GOOD will come of it and the World of Koi will be a better place."
Yours in Koi,
Gypsymom
