We use ISO 168 and Blue Ridge food with great results. We are able to keep our pH at 7.2 which really helps with Hi development. High pH will make it harder to get your Hi to improve, so I think you are better off concentrating on pH rather than spending a lot on food.

So, how do you get your water's Ph down to 7.2? I know you have Ph over 8 from your tap. Are you using anything special? If so, what is it and how much would I have to use for 10,000 gallon system. My Ph is/has always been very stable but still at around 8.0

Mike,
The pH from my tap water is 8.6. We use Lithaqua, which is 93.64% pure carbonates (CaCo3), and it is designed as a filter media (850 square feet per cubic foot of surface area), for pH correction by neutralisation of CO2, remineralisation by percolation and Fe and Pb elimination. It is great.

You would need 5 -10 cubic feet for your system.

Why such a broad range of needed volume of Lithaqua? Does it have to do with other parameters or what?

We have found that it takes 1 cubic foot per 1000 gallons for most systems. With some systems it can take less. You, therefore should have a minimum of 5 cubic feet before you start to see any real results.

Not to really try and get this back on topic but....
I've been watching the vortex chamber and i can state that although this unknown food DOES make a a large volume of heavy surface film, there is LESS stuff in the vortex and it is a lighter brown.
I didn't want to post it till I had done some lake diving cuz I was wondering if the new food resulted in a different density koi crap and that it was piling up on the lake floor. but I didn't find a single strand. the bottom of the lake was like I had 8 difusers on my 8 bottom drains and had a bowled bottom instead of my flat one.
