On the Road Again.....

Fish Daddy and I are headed for a looooong weekend in Portland next month, (19-22). Get to see the grandkids, 1 for the 1st time.

May have a little time to bum around. Any advice on places to visit? Koi shops , gardens , 'public' ponds or any place else that might interest the mildly kichi and maybe even the grandkids/kids/other grand parents *from over the pond* (who we don't know).
Have heard about the Japanese Garden.

Thanx for the tips.

To bad you can't make your trip a week later, then you could go to the show.

coupla thoughts, Oregon Koi is not that far from portland and worth the trip to visit. Owners Tony and Arthur are friendly and knowledgeable and really have a very nice store.....also I'd be visiting the site of the koi show scheduled for the following week even if I was a week too early because in that area is a fine zoo, japanese garden and rose garden...all well worth seeing. Portland has some fun
used book stores and some antique/japanese item stores. It's gonna be hot tho
so plan not to get burned or dehydrated!

GASP GASP GASP & GASP

It's supposed to hit 106 today in Santa Paula. We are 12 miles from the Pacific, up a canyon and get a lovely on shore breeze starting around 2 pm every day.

*WEATHER ALERT!!!!
*JUST IN!!* "Very High Temperatures Combined With Increasing Humidity Levels Are Expected To Produce Dangerous Heat Index Values Of 105 To 112 Degrees From Late This Morning Through This Afternoon."

Portland is going to be down right 'chilly'...Their temps are, typically, what we have here in SP.

We were supposed to go to the BBQ/Koi Club Meeting this afternoon. No amount of beer, salsa and ribs is going to entice me to go hang out in 106+++ degree weather!!

I can do all of that at home with my honey & my fiddys....AND I can take little siestas too!!!

HAPPY WEEK-END!!!
GM

PS: Please keep the suggestions coming in! I found out about the show AFTER I had bought tickets/hotel room/car. Next time...I'll check the show schedule first.

Portland area Koi Club

Hey GM,

If you are going to be in the Portland, OR. area you should visit the folks in the Northwest Koi and Goldfish Club.
Shoot me a PM and I'll give you contact info.
Some will be very busy getting ready for their upcoming Koi Show, but I think they would more than welcome you...
