Power Outages in NorCal

Having a heatwave and noticed mostly San Jose Area having power outtages. With the heatwave and no power its dangerous and deadly for our koi. This is something we usually fear during wintertime rather than summertime.. Summer seems to be less likely to happen but the ponds have less 02 levels than the winter..

What does everyone have hooked up their ponds or what kinda emergency system you got hooked up and has it been tested before in such a case??

I am still in Chicago but my neighbor said there is no power outtage in my area yet. it's worth to pick up an portable generator with pond that overstock. ) warmer water, overstocking... that would deplete the oxygen quick after the equipment stopped working. heard someone lost something 40 fish over the last weekend due to power outtage. that's just sad.

Mo

With or without a power outage, mine is hitting 88+ by evening time too. Just cut out feeding or at least reduce to winter time regimen for the time being.

thanks mike,
I did give them a little bit this morning when it was 84. First food in days. They acted really hungry. Should I open up my new bag of Hi-Silk Sweet Potato or just feed the Hai Feng wheat germ?

IMO i would stick with the wheat germ. This is not a good time to change up on the foods. You could add some sweet potato to the mix (maybe 15-20%) and see if they like it. Mine didn't particularly care for it and neither did I. Too much waste!!

Heya Joe. Wow, 106 in Fremont two days ago. The fish were sunbathing on the flat rock beach. I run an extension cord from the 4K generator on my motorhome parked behind the house for emergency power. Used it last week for an hour-long planned power outtage. Worked great.

Playing the odds right now with a generator planned for the future. But am lucky in that our city owns it's own electric company. We generate our own peak power and have excellent long term contracts. So far no power outages unless a transmission line or sub station goes down.

Joe,

Just Got Home Around 10pm. All Are Doing Well.

Thanks For Doing What You Did. I Owe You A Big One.

I Almost Laughed So Hard When Finding The Unfortunate One That You Still Left There. Stinkyyyyy!

That Generator Is Not Going Anywhere For A Long Time
It's Big Enough To Run My House A/c

Thanks Again, I Really Appreciate It.
