Showa Questions

My showa isn't finished enough to show yet, is it--lots of sumi just waiting for the right time to pop out, but probably not until this growth spurt slows down. Ya think?

I agree

Give it time to polish up a bit. Much of the Sumi is still hanging too low to be appreciated in a competetive environment. Remind yourself that good showa finish slow.

Yes, it certainly is ginrin. Hard to take a decent pic in the sunshine without getting blinded or the pic overexposed in the glare... *L*

Yup, patience will be required for this fish. It looks very good at this stage. If you have a chance to to bowl it up, give us a picture of the sumi on the white background on the right side of the fish right below the start if the dorsal. You can see in the second picture. That should give you an idea of the quality of the sumi.

I think you did good. We'll see in two years or so.

I will do that when I get a bigger net, or coerce her close enough for a macro shot. If you were able to see that patch of emerging sumi on the right side in person, you'd see it as a very VERY dark glossy black blooming in each scale. These are new and have emerged in the last week or so. They had been faintly grey/blue before, like the color on the face, with a slight netting pattern around it.

I agree with Dan, you probably have two or three more years for the sumi to finish.

I agree with Dan, I think you have two to three more years before the sumi finishes.

Not ready for show, give it 2 to 3 years...Beni is down on the fish so I think the beni and sumi will finish at the same time.
