Hi Dick.

The fabled English Style of showing was always more about bio-security than the exhibition of koi. It always involved steralisation of nets/bowls and personel hygiene procedures. These days things have moved on.

Seperate vats, Splash screens, anti-viruscides, hand washes, foot baths on entry/exit to show ring ETC.

You'll find my clubs procedures documented on our web-site under the INFORMATION button.

was surprised when I got home from work to see my post so far down the "ladder" with but one post. That's because I think many are complacent here in this country. So Bern it did not surprise me at all to see a "Brit" with a response
that was quick and right on..thanks for the web address so that the info is readily available.

for those readers and not posters trying to learn, a review of the info provided is
something you need to know and use for a simple trip to your favorite dealers or maybe a koi kichi's pond that just added some new koi...if you think you can not bring something in to your pond on your shoes, brushing against something with your clothes or touching something than you may be suseptible to a big disappointment someday....

There was a famous magazine a few decades back who's slogan was "what , me worry? ".....well maybe they should have....being prepared can help to be worry free....

The reason I'm focused on this aspects is I'm involved in numerous shows in the next few months and I'm determined these letters to be followed to the smallest details. Starting with Linda montgomery and myself and the entire benching Team in portland.....

Great resource Bern and great comments Dick. It is extremely important to practice the best possible biosecurity at shows and all koi events. While KHV research has indicated it takes more than just a few drops of water transferred from one tank to another to spead KHV it is critical to do everything possible to keep each owners tank/water seperate from another.

Art and nicole were at Portland involved in goldfish end and he helped me with the benching . we discussed Bio security and what was done at the show and agreeded
that after the measuring tank was disinfected the plastic liner was really not needed. But is all part of extra steps to give some peace of mind to entrant owners.
