One of the many neat visitors toi the show was Tom Ayres from arizona. He was a great help with benching and koi wrestling for the judges. Was fun visiting......It's tougher to visit with the judges till after the show but caught bob Johnson at breakfast Sunday and really enjoyed swaping tales about breeding and culling koi. Anymore the people are just as big a draw as koi. Looking forward to doing some serious visiting in a few days at the Puget sound show...

I think it makes it hard when we don't know just who we are looking for though, lol!

Steve, I sure am sorry we didn't connect either! Your welcome anytime to stop by if your over this way though! <might be covered in cement, but a good excuse to stop building and have a break and cup of ?? >

Mike, I can't remember two names.. the new koi Russ brought <amazing color and a must see> and that black and white you pointed out to me in the show tank.
The fish you speak of at Russ's booth is an Ochiba/Goshiki. This is the first year they were available and only from Hosokai Farm. He developed it. Can't wait to see his sansai (3 yr olds) this next October. The other fish you mention (black and white) was a Shiro Utsuri

Something tells me a few of the Cali dealers were underdressed.. Looking at clouds and knowing Portland weather. What were the water temps?

Actually Joe, the weather was very pleasant. Yes, the clouds rolled in but it wasn't Santa Cruz type weather. Comfortable is a good way to put it. The water temps were in the mid to high 60's but it didn't seem to bother the fish too much.

Thanks Mike! Not the Utsuri, the one with the white face, black body that you said you had one also, changes color with the season. (will I ever remember all the names vs. color/patterning? LOL)

Steve, I hope so! LOL! I might have to try a asagi out if I can find one I like as I have good Asagi water here. (got a butterfly asagi tucked away and hidden in your hip pocket Dick? LOL! J/K )

I enjoyed the show even if I didn't get to meet everyone I wanted to! But I did learn somethings to the good!

think I'd need a bigger pocket if I did Kathy......I did enjoy raising those 12 or so babies and learned a lot from them. many of the color varieties that also need special water besides asagi is Midori, Yamabuki, Shusui. I tried to get my hands on some Ochiba babies this year but it didn't work out. Keeping them happy and patterns complete the first year can also be a challenge. There's always something new to learn with our wet pets....
but then that's the Joy of Koi

This is REDICULOUS!! I can't post files over 50kb??? Jim, what's going on???

Okay, now I see that I have 19.95MB of attachments used. It won't let me post any more attachments!!

So, Jim, how do I get rid of those previous attachments so I can post more?
Sorry but I just got back from vacation. Glad to see you got it figured out. Congrats to all the winners and everyone else that showed!
