from what i know of birdman he probably is Happy that the koi he has in his care were winners in the show. I think he is happy that he knows Dick, and Dick took care of his koi so now he can State he bought quality asagis.
Birdman has a background in racing pigeons. he could toot his own horn about them...others toot his horn for him in that arena. Birdman wasn't really trying to toot his own horn by starting this thread...he knew from the get go that this was a Public "THANK YOU DICK" thread..
It was his way of showing that he appreciated what dick did. People that have bought HIS birds have probably done the same thing in public to him when the birds he bred won...except they did have to do a little training and coop cleaning.
Birdman ain't fool enough to drop in with the mentality that buys trophies. he'll be proud of himself when he raises koi that win. And I know he wouldn't EVER "toot his own horn". I'm very surprised many of you don't.

He's just happy that he knows dick and that Dick treated him so well. It's just that he is saying it like guys say stuff....
he can't come in here and say he has fallen head over heels in friendship with Dick.
If I am wrong about this...
Well then I don't know DICK about Birdman.

Yeah, and you sure don't know how to make an apology when you're out of line!! Don't try to justify that BS by trying to make it sound like you were joking either. If it was, I'd call it 2/3 of a pun - P U!!LOL

Cool beans Birdman!

Hey, what would a board be like without Luke's comments. Those are legitimate points, which span the hobby and have to be made somehow... just call him SHOCK N AWE LUKE

1/ What about those folks, say in Japan, that buy, for example, a SSF sansai from Narita-san, and have Narita-san prep it for years? Or that Maruyama showa that was mud-ponded every summer for 8 or 9 years? Do you think Super Mask would've won if it were housed in the UK, or that showa without mud-ponding?

2/ Or do ya have to be the sole breeder/culler/raiser to claim rightful and virtuous victory?

There's a big span between 1 and 2, where most of us participate...

Thought it odd that when i was a kid in grade school kids kidded me shamelessly about my last name..."Hey Bimbo"....was their call, which was hard to swallow with a fine English name like benbow, even mentioned in Long john Silver as the Inn where all the bluebeards met.

Now in my evening years to misuse my first name, well I quess some kids never grow up..... i could go by my given name "richard", can't see how that could be twisted...Sorry JR...would have to pass on getting in touch with "another side"...

But from my view point, I have prided myself in my good name. have contributed to establsihing two koi clubs and an association for the northwest, and along the way helped dozens of other clubs and hundreds of indiviuals. I think that effort for almost 30 years deserves a little more respect

I suppose if we told Luke he was " ugly and his mother dresses him funny" that wouldn't be enough at this point? A tack on his seat maybe??

Let's move on---

Dick, I worte a very brief review of Brady's benigoi I think you would appreciate ( over on koi shack, under the thead on domestic breeder --)

Bird: Yea, not very good pics. But, they do show excellent conformation, and that light area along the lateral line separating the deeper tones of the dorsal area from the orange-red of the abdomen.... very nice. I wish I had softer water.

I'm not apologizing. I'm pointing out that most of you simply can't read anything above than the "Dick and Joan " Readers.
Birdman was no more was tooting his horn than I am apologizing.
