Yikes! Sorry to hear that JR! I was interested in seeing how the sumi developed on that fish.

Best Wishes,
Brady

Since you guys are onto showa at this thread, what do you think of this particular one? She's a prize winner at this year's All Japan in the 55bu category.

dechoong,
That's about the best looking fish I've seen that's been a showa.

dechoong,

I'd have to agree with Luke. BTW, you're avatar isn't too shabby either.

Hi Dan, Luke,

That showa was offered for sale last year by a local dealer in KL and it looks quite different then. Most of the sumi has yet to emerge and generally it's shades of grey rather than the jet black that you see now. I didn't pay much attention to it because it was quite expensive and was bought by a local hobbyist later in the year. The handler did an awesome job finishing the koi for the show... very impressive. I'm biting my lips now on the missed opportunity

The avatar is my prized sanke from SFF, a yonsai at 70cm. It's being kept at the dealer's big pond for growth.

Cheers,
Dennis

It's a female. I can't remember what award it took but it did came in 1st. The showa in the pic came in 2nd... if I remember correctly.
