Cuba and new koi markets

Lately we have been seeing quite a trend of old dictaters losing power, dying, getting sick, severe political problems, etc. Saddam, Castro, who is next? I wonder if Cuba will see a surge of koi and other hobby and luxury related interests if it moves toward democracy? Any thoughts?

How does the fall of a dictator or even industry dominator affect the market and industry? KHV found in the Nigata prefecture with no names given which kind of makes the whole prefecture suspect, did Yume koi's infected koi come from Nigata, Sakai, or where? Seems like things are shifting suddenly this year in so many ways.

It's 110 in Cali and 80 here??? Isn't it supposed to be the opposite??? It's like some type of new footprints are being made for the whole world. Has anyone else noticed alot of changes recently, especially in power structures? Maybe soon the top koi will be in Cuba in this hemisphere. Wouldn't that be a trip.

We also see a trend of the worlds most powerful democracy heading towards dictatorship!! No warrant needed to spy on citizens?!?! Tax cuts for the rich..while the poor have NO medical coverage. Large companies like Hallibuton getting contracts without bidding...making the VP a richer man!! The presidents family invested in military contract companies..while we stay at war?!!? May not be koi related..but simply horrifying. I have never been so ashamed of my own country!!!
I am sure this thread will end outside eventually..lol!!

Well okay, here's my wooshiefied addition to this thread--some people believe that the last date on the Mayan calendar (winter solstice 2012) is the end time of the world. As badly as humankind has messed up (and is still messing up) the ecological balance, some kind of meltdown has got to take place. Global warming could easily take us all out with the greenhouse effect. What does this have to do with politics or koi for that matter? Nothing and everything.

I don't see it as the end of the world coming...but lets just say, humans may not be on top for much longer!!! May be the end of humankind...and the cockroaches will still survive!! We may be nothing more than another species that has come and gone...oh well, it's been a good run.

LOL-Wow, interesting responses.

What global warming? Down here this is the coolest summer we have had in our lifetimes and we are right by the equator. I think weather patterns are shifting, the earth tilts on it's axis and woohoo we have perfect weather while ya'll fry. It's about dang time too. I think God finally just exercised some justice and sent the heat north this year and gave us a brequisito.(little break)

Not trying to argue global warming, just pointing out it is actually 10-20 degrees cooler here than it was last year. Yet you guys up there are getting hammered.

If it keeps getting warmer up there why more and more people in Canada will be able to keep koi too and spend more time outside in the garden by the pond.

Castro sent his greetings to his fraternal brothers in Bolivia today and it made them feel so special, don't you just feel heartbroken he didn't send greetings to you too? I know it makes me feel very depressed........ They had a burial service down here for the socialist party and the revolution and buried it on TV. It was hilarious. Reality is free countries and democracies have the largest number of koi keepers and folks who can afford high end koi.

Is there a God? If so, can you ask God to stop all the killing out there?

man, that is really a good news indeed. New ZNA Chapter in Middle East.... I think all ZNA members from around the world should visit the new chapter and to support them. You know, friendship thru koi.....it is all about.... Oh, and if you are ZNA judges, you better come over to setup some seminars for them ASAP..... BTW, in additional to fir, did they also order the ozone thing too?

Unless the people of Cuba oust Raul then I imagine koi keeping will stay the same in Cuba...which is probably non-exsistent.
