All Hobbies are Expensive. Bass fishing boats - $20,000 plus trailer plus license, plus fuel. Quad runners - $5,000 - $8,000, plus trailer, plus fuel, etc. SCUBA Diving - Lessons to learn $500 - Dive equipment $1500, trips $500 to $5,000 depending on where you go, Camera and/or housing $500 to $1000. Photograpy - Digital SLR with lenses $500 - $2,000 entry, more if you move up to the really expensive stuff. And so it goes. All hobbies cost money to get into them and then to participate can run even more. But this one is the one I participate in. If I had not gotten interested in show quality I could probably get by with less expensive fish, no entry fees, smaller pond (maybe just an ADI watergarden), no travel costs, etc. And so it goes.

A dealer friend told me one time..."It is the journey that counts. Enjoy it"

I swear it don't get no better.

Suprise, I am actually enjoying this hobby a lot. The problem I see is in the co$t of reasonably nice koi and food in the US. I don't knnow the mark up, but given that a few of the koi dealer I know are driving MBZ, I believe we are overpaying, and that is what qualify the hobby as being 'expensive'.

Talking

It's all relative

If you have a lot of $ then it's not expensive

If you don't have any $, even gold fish is expensive

Worth it??? Yessss.
