Hello everyone Building our new pond out of block and mortar and a poured floor.. We don't really want EDPM and polyurea is $$$ so does anyone have experince with Pond Armor or Sani-Tred or a product that will work in the North climates?

Sani-Tred will work very well. There are two components, but they are easy to apply. Sani-Tred will give you installation info.

How did you seal or get the Sani-Tred products to stick to PVC -BD's, tpr's etc?? Also did you use this in a northern climate?

... and how much does it cost per square foot with primer, calk, and top coat?

Have you guys tried the propane weed torch to dry the concrete first? That looks like fun.

Thanks,

Simply rough up the pvc of fittings with 80 grit sandpaper. Does the trick nicely!

Steve,

Have a weed burner but haven't had to use it yet. Actually, if you check out their website (sanitred.com) it says that a slight bit of moisture simply helps the permaflex to cure.

Hi Marie, I believe Bob Adler in CA did a great discussion on the use of Sani-Tread and also did some rather extensive research. You might get with him as well.

Sorry Steve

I missed answering your question about cost. There is/are no additional things needed with permaflex. According to the manufacturer, apply the permaflex as a primer/base coat, then, if necessary, use the LRB with the TAV thickener as necessary, to fill cracks or cold joints. Then, simply apply the final coat, let cure for approx 4 hrs. I recommend that after curing has taken place, use a mild detergent solution to wipe up any curing residue, rinse thoroughly then fill and add fish. They recommend three coats of permaflex if you're sealing cinder block. One gallon will cover about 240 sq. ft. I have found that with "new" concrete that the first coat covers about 180 sq. ft. The second coat goes on much easier of course and much less is needed. Two coats "rolled" on will give you a nice coating of about 14-15 mil in thickness. Cost is around $95/gal of permaflex and $85/gal of LRB.
