The answer to your first question depends on what you consider really nice. $400,000 should do it though.

Shot $400K could buy me a nice house in the Midwest. Honestly, I have seen ponds that are over $150K and that is for a pond over 30K gals...Whoever spends $400K on an pond is crazy if not an idiot. I have yet to see veteran hobbyist spend $400K redoing a pond.

how about take the original estimate for a nice pond, and then go FOUR HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLARS over that? and then it leaks like a seive and is still not complete.

i am considering putting in a "nice" 10,000 gallon pond. liner, ten feet at the deepest point. gravity flow vortex filter with three chambers, matala in last two. can someone give me a ballpark on that?

I couldn't agree more. If you actually spend $400,000 to build a pond - assuming you don't have a gun pointed at your head, then you are definitely an idiot! Big time!

We must be talking bout' Stephen Height's pond. I dont know what he his building, but he obiviuosly has the money to eat up most of the cost to build. As most experience hobbyist will tell newbies is keep it simple and the cost will come down. Now if he is planning to ad a plasma screen under water so they can monitor what he is doin, then the cost will go up.

Ballpark figure would be around $20-30K...cost may vary depending on how much of your own man hours our spent building. But, honestly I am planning my next pond at around 8K gallons and I dont think it will cost more than $15K to build.

Frank just built a 35,000 gallon pond. It has (4) 6" bottom drains, english style filtration chambers totaling 4000 gallons, .I settlement chamber 1500 gallons. All of this is shot with gunite, plaster, nelsonite rubber coat paint. job cost homeowner right at $45,000

See, very good price...I am sure Stephen could have gotten someone local to do his pond for way less than $400K...

For some, it is important to pay a lot. Don't ask me why, it just seems to be that way.
