For anyone interested in more pictures from the garden of the Adachi Museum of Art:

Breathtaking...

Searched on google and found some more pics (Looks like they had a good trip):

That is spectacular. If I could have that for $400K...... you betcha!! Would hazard a guess that cost a few more pennies, however. Beautiful.

Thumbs up Reg and CCBoy nailed it for me

If I have 400K to spend on a pond then obviously I already have the land and the fine digs to go with it , Mine would be much like the one in Reg's picture , complete with a large island in the middle with trees and a pogoda ... and of course a bridge from the shore to the island . A waterway connecting it to the atrium/sunroom/pond in the house is of course an absolute necessity
Of course all of this is predicated on the fact that I stay in Oklahoma where I can custom build a new 4000sqft brick and stone home on 20 acres for under 500K

I wish!!!!!!!! No, haven't been there. But if the opportunity arises, I will take it.

Joe, if you do get to visit the Museum garden, please take loads of pictures for us.

$230K would get me the 29 acres next door. Trying to buy that anyway. I want to build a 2 acre mud pond/japanese garden.

As for a dream koi pond, something like the pictures would be perfect, except with some serious filtration. That exact bridge is a huge must. A Friendship gate too.

On the technological side, I would need an underwater tunnel like the Aquarium at Mall of America has.

I'm sure most of the money would be eaten up by equipment costs and landscaping. I dont know what alot of the high dollar gagets go for.

It would be neat if we could come up with a line-item budget for this "dream pond"

As for the pond itself, cement isnt that expensive. Its around $80 a cubic yard here. So a pond 30x48x9' deep would be around 100,000 gallons. If the walls and floor were 12" thick that would be roughly 100 cubic yards of concrete and cost $8,000. I don't know what re-bar costs on something like that would be. Nor do I know what the sealant costs. Labor shouldnt be too bad as I think about a typical concrete basement that is built around here.
