She is pretty, nice skin. good definition, body shape is good. Kohakus just don't float me boat.
Show me a good looking ochiba and I will be more enthusiastic.

I'm trying too, to find a kohaku like this one, I like the patern, the definition and the body shape. All depend from the price they ask for this kohaku.
I would prefere to buy youngest one because I enjoy to see their change and the price is also more resonable, but it's not easy to find one..

Very nice. As with Hasegawa Kohaku generally, the bone structure is not that of a koi likely to grow to huge size. She has the softer curves that look best, IMO, around 26"-28"... a graceful fish, rather than a powerful one. Several years ago, when I had a 4500+ gallon pond, there was a dealer who tried to talk me out of buying a Hasegawa because "they get a brilliant red, but won't grow any more than 28 inches". He encouraged me to get a koi likely to grow "well over 30 inches". That convinced me to get the Hasegawa... bright red, attractive pattern, graceful fish, sized to be appropriate for a pond under 10,000 gallons. Unfortunately, turned out to be male. Still, I very much enjoyed that fish.

Gary . . .

a lovely maruten kohaku. It must be very pleasurable to watch her swimming in your pond. Well done.

Well done
Like the pattern and the skin quality.
I could just talk for my self, but I could easily fill my pond with kohaku
She is beutiful.
The red is red and the white is as clean as it can be
Keep the pics coming.

Regards
Stefan

nice

nice koi you've got there, that's my favorite type of beni, and the skin looks great.

relatedly, i've heard that hasagawa (the kohaku breeder who's in the suburbs in ojiya), has a relatively high amount of deformaties due to inbreeding, does anyone have any first hand info on this?

Thumbs up Wow

The beni is stunning, nice volume and good looking skin. She even as a good maruten sport and a pattern that should look even better as she increases in size. Good luck with her (?).

Very nice Kohak, looks male. I had a male develop the same way, big shoulders, narrow nose and big pecs. Overall, the Koahk is a very nice buy.
