The "better" period in Central and South Florida is from mid-November through mid-April. The rest of the year is typically too warm, adding to the stress on the fish. Even in this time frame daytime highs can be in the mid & upper 80sF on any particular day, and evening lows can be in the 40sF (or lower if a freeze comes through). Fortunately, we normally are looking at highs in the 70sF and lows in the 50sF. It makes Florida a good place to begin and end the show season in the US.

Showing fish is best in the winter and early spring.

As indicated, growing seasons start and stop at various times depending on your location on the globe....I think the best time is in the spring prior to the growth period as the color has recovered from the previous year and it won't interfere with the new growth period
