You can breed whatever you want with these, unless you are going for something specific.

If it was me I would probably use both males ("yamabuki ogon" and "kohaku") with the female "ginrin hariwake". You should get some nice Lemon hariwake which I happen to like very much. The kokaku male will throw some interesting variation into the mix. If you think the males are too aggressive to use both, pick your favorite color between red and yellow and use the appropriate male. Like Russ says it realy doesn't make much difference. Even a mixed up spawn is fun to raise for beginners. Just don't try to raise more than you have room for or you end up with bonsai koi.

John,
I'm not sure it is a recognized term. I just used it to mean stunted koi. This is an accidental process which is unlike true bonsai. But if you ever end up with a 1" tosai you'll know what it means.

Dick what does *Purachina* mean. That is a new term for me.

A Purachina is a Doitsu Platinum Ogon only.

Bonsai Koi is a recognized term. Last season I bought a whole pond full of Bonsai Nisai from Torazo and got some really amazing Koi for less as they were small. I had a customer buy two Tancho Kohaku from the batch and he grew them 6" over the winter as he kept them at 74 degrees. When he was done they were no longer Bonsai.

I guess we should ask Kevin what exactly he would like to try and achieve. I would like to know what color the ginrin hariwake is. Posting a picture or two might help. I'm a little confused how Dick got Purachina out of Kevin's first post, unless he knows Kevin.
