Thought I would add some pics from the '06 Washington Koi & Water Garden Society show.

This was my first time showing (I build my pond this spring), the longfin is a kin matsuba and my Size 5 Kohaku which was awarded Novice Champion!

Welcome Rockman to the board. Both of your pictured koi are really nice. Congrats on your introduction victories into koi shows! You'll have to challenge Mr Gowen for baby grand next year! LOL!

Thanks

I appreciate the welcome and the comments on my fish.

I am currently thinking about purchasing another 1 or 2 fish...any thoughts/comments on the following sanke fish?

How old are these fish and from which breeder do they come from?

I would pass on all of them, by the way #2 and #3 look like they could be showas.

Dan it certainly is good seeing you posting here again...keep it up pls...

also on one particular koi that exhibits both sanke and showa signs, keep in mind breeders have been using sanke to improve the black on their showas...
while they are looking for a parent koi from the batch they raise, it's still a crop that will be sold as is....

Russ, nice to see an honest opinion given when asked....used to be a time when folks would beat around the bush not wanting to offend anyone, but then how can anyone learn. Also for those who haven't heard this before, be cautious buying a koi strictly from a photo. You can see the pattern but little else, unless you have a dealer you have a relationship with and can trust the rest is there....your just looking to see if the pattern actually appeals to you.

Just to set the record straight; Baby Grand Champion went to Tom Boyer of Bothell Washington this year for his Doitsu Maruten Sanke size one. Tom Boyer also took Best in Size one with a two step Sanke.

Gene Gowan did not win Baby Grand this year and boy was he surprised!
