When I brought the fish back in November 03, I had something pressing on my mind concerning a good friend's high school son. Mitchell had a brain tumor and there was not much hope. The church had a big fundraiser and I purchased a number of silent auction items but did not donate anything. I decided to donate the fish.

Mark Bodycott set up the auction on his web site. The tax deductible donation for the fish reached $1300 before a woman in Texas bid $4000. Also, Bob Winkler started a cartel collection in an attempt to outbid the Texas bidder AND allow me to keep my fish. The bidding ended; the Texas bid was the highest and Bob collected another $2600 that was donated anyway. So, in total $6600 went to Mitchell's family. When Mark Body asked the woman from Texas where he should ship her fish, she said, "ship the fish to Mike" Who was the woman from Texas- Savannah Robinson. Now that's charity and it involves the koi society in total. I'll never forget it.

We donated the proceeds from our 2006 pond tour to our local Children's Research Hospital. We raffled off a pond for our own fund raiser. Our donation was $1300.
