In the Pot is a mixture of two materials, one of which looks alot like planting mulch. He says it is not, but it looked like somewhat like that to me. he mixes in another wood chip like material and that is a very small layer in the pot. Then the plant. He promises to get me more details, but that is what I have for now. He claims to have much less 'dirt" in the pond due to not much for the koi to maess with, and also that the root and plant growth has gone through the proverbial roof.

Many people have asked that I get them a copy of the DVD I made of Sakai san's lecture in Sacramento 3 weeks ago. Unfortunately, the quality of the one I made does not translate well into a copy. I apologize that I cannot fullfil that promise.
You were there!!!!?????!!!!!?????!!!!!!!!

Wait was that you next to the cam?

Shot, Bob W should do voice overs on the video if the audio is bad.

Yess Grasshoppa, it was I (waves ) sitting next to one DVD recorder, while Gary Chin, the Co-show chair and AKCA Judge was running the other one on a higher tripod behind me for the Camellia club.

As far as the Utube part, two possible to probable "problems" I can see. One... the lecture was a bit more than an hour and a half. Two, possible offense to Sakai San. Posting him on the internet without his permission. The Video was the unacceptable part. Mostly could hear the audio, luckily. Hard to see the pictures well in the room on my version. Sorry, the best I can do is a written synopsis of what I heard Sakai San say. I am actually waiting until after the harvest and he has a bit more time, when he has promised to clarify a few things we talked about from that weekend. At that point, I will post my limited understanding of what he said. The topics range from pond construction to beni quality. If you read back in this thread early on, you will see the cliff notes version, with a similar promise to post updated info.

Ahh grasshoppa, please understand that this lesson is pointed toward you, and no one else. Others may agree, disagree, learn, or see my own level of ignorance , but my posts are me trying to improve your koi knowledge to the best of my ability and as time allows.

So you see.. we have the same "exposure" to what others may silently, or not, think about our knowledge. Honesty is always the best way to learn. I will be learning too.

Tonio has good points and alot of knowledge. Listen to him. BTW, I wasn't serious about the bong (see Aquitori point # 1 above)....But do you have any munchies?
I dont do drugs if that is what you are thinking.......
