Checkout website: www.enkoi.com

Also there is the Bakersfield show the end of the month. You might want to check that out since it is only 1 1/2hr away from LA

Long

Keep in mind, that most of the dealers will be in Japan around that time. You might want to contact them directly before wasting precious time if they're not there.

Mike

P.S. - Also, you can try Andrew's Koi International (Andy Moo) or Asahi Koi. I believe they are all close to one another in the Orange County or Gardena area.

Hot dogs? Fords? What else wouldn't be avaiable? I am thinking that the Phillipines is way closer to Japan and China than LA is. Don't you have an advantage over us Long? Books, maybe? Nets? Nope. Air pumps? Nope. Air stones? maybe. Medicines? Nah. Have fun looking around in the LA koi world, Long, I haven't gotten to yet.

This is lore I've heard/read. Asahi is oldest koi related business in US, started here by a koi hobbyist from Japan. Eastern Niskigoi is in a location that was a goldfish dealer's first. Should I believe my brain that is telling me Ken Tran, owner of Eastern, was a young fish geek who shopped there? Are these true? Can these tidbits be fleshed out with more/better details for us to appreciate from afar and to help Long to see the background of the places he wishes to tour?

Asahi koi, is the the oldest koi dealer in the USA, Henry's father started the bussiness. Henry is a great guy, and they have beautiful koi.

Andrews Koi Internation, is a great place, Andy and his wife Luise (LuLu) run the bussines, Andy works full time for the school district, while Lulu runs the koi shop. If you have the chance to go to Andrews stop on the weekend after 12, you will be sure to see Andy that way.

Eastern Nishikigoi, originally was Pacific Koi & Goldfish, Joa Akimora's parents started the bussiness, when his parents passed on Joe took over. Joe retired about 17 years ago. The bussiness was completely closed for around 4 years. And you are correct Ken was a young fish geek. Ken started as a hobbiest, he then started selling koi out of his home, while still in High School. after a couple years he moved to another location in a warehouse. He went to college and worked on increasing his bussines. Ken finally had enough savings to lease the store he now calls Eastern Nishikigoi. Ken still works full time as a system analyst at the university of Fullerton, and full time at the koi store. His love for koi is amazing. He is a very quite young man. Ken has build what once was just a small koi and goldfish store into a very large operation. Since Ken bought this bussines, he has built an addtional 19 ponds over 200,000 gallons of water in total.

All three of these dealers are wonderful people, hard working with vast knowledge. If you have the opportunity to see them all, I think you will be very impressed with all of thre operations. Also there is one more dealer I would also recommend, Mystic koi, Bill and his wife Sandy and son Shawn all run this family bussiness. Mystic koi is a great place to go.
