Mitch,

I wish I had met you when you were at the Louisville show. That one was the high water mark for me as my asagi took GCB at that show, making Dick Benbow almost as happy as me!!!

Bowling Green isn't much further away from Louisville than Lexington, so since this club is the only one in Kentucky you ought to join the Louisville club, too. Bring some of those fish you have up to enter in the show next year!

There's some guy and his wife up in Chicago that always brings in a ringer or two and another man from Atlanta that seems to do the same every year. It makes for some very stiff competition if you're showing, but if you're looking, it gives the people who attend some very high quality koi to see. We even had 2 very nice kohaku entered by Lee Aronfeld from Grand Cayman at this year's show.

If you were there, then you know what I'm talking about when I say there were some super nice koi there. The kohaku Mike posted a picture of in this thread was entered in this show. Mulberryjen, another Kentuckian member here on Koi Bito had some nice fish in the show, too. The Louisville Show is getting more popular all the time.

Dale

Dale,
That Asagi was really nice. Congratulations. Didn't spawn happen in that tank before the show was over? I agree the quality was very good at the show. I went to the All Bay Area Show last March as well. They obviously had some really nice stuff in that show, but I think the stuff in Louisville would hold its own. I actually did join GLGKS sometime this past summer. I need to go up for one of the outings.

I'm raising a few fry from Don's Kohaku/Showa spawn there at the show. I think his female won best Kohaku or something. I sure wish I had taken my camera to the show. I didn't pay too much attention to who won what, for some reason, although I do rememeber the Showa that won GC. I guess if I ever get my herd up to the quality where I think I can compete I'll pay closer attention. I do remember seeing several nice Kohaku at the show, so I guess I saw Mike's. The Kohaku that is almost impossible to forget is the beast that was at the All Bay Area Show. I think they said it was 36".

Mike,

Thank you for correcting me. I've edited my post. I was thinking one thing and typed another. Please cut me some slack as I am only a sophomore in this endeavor!

In any event, it floored me that the asagi took the award. Especially after my fish spawned in the show tank. They really made a mess as I'm sure you remember. One of the Judges, Joe White, told me later that they went to the trouble to bowl the asagi in clearer water than what was in my tank in order to get the best look at it that they could. That's really going the extra mile.
