Experimenting with a web page for my Koi pond - comments welcome

I am experimenting with a web page for my Koi pond...

http://home.comcast.net/~harry.j.potter/harryspond.html

If anyone is interested, I am curious to get feedback/comments on it. I am quite a novice at such things, but it is fun to set up a site. I do not have pictures of all my Koi (since I was not able to catch them all yet). This is just a start.

P.S. The format for the page is leveraging the format I am using for my painting web site...

http://home.comcast.net/~harry.j.potter/index.html

I am currently working on a painting some of the Koi, in time I might update that site to show the Koi painting and make a link between the two sites.

Not a Webmaster

I like the format. Very clean and simple. Easy links highlighted throughout the page and the text loads quickly while the pictures finish. So many use various Multimedia formats throughout that take forever to load, even with DSL or Cable connections. Easy to view, no oddball background colors to distract and make the text hard to read (as many like to do for some silly reason) I'd say you're off to a good start.

Looks good! Did you take that picture of the raccoon? I would change the links so they open in a new window instead of the same one.

Jim and Larry,

Thanks for the comments.

I will look into having the links open in a new page.

The racoon picture I found on the web, although I have spotted a raccoon at night (between my scarecrows and my wife yelling at him he was scared off!).

Was it clear to click on the "school" of fish at the bottom to get to the individual pictures of my koi?

The Showa is my newest fish, just got it for myself as a birthday present to myself. He definitely fits in nicely with my other fish.

Wink Clear enough to me

I suppose the picture alone might not be an obvious link for the uninitiated to the web, but the Koi Gallery identity should be a good hint .
I like your birthday present , but then again I love Showa. Nice kindai pattern (very well balanced), good motoguro, more sumi to finish, rosey beni, and the body looks to have some real potential for growth.

I agree with Larry's first post.

Keep it simple. Concentrate on the content and the functionality. All those cheap bells n whistles end up a distraction rather than an enchancement.
I know. I have been there.

I like it the way it is. Keep it coming.
Good luck.
